VACANCY FOR THE POSITION OF WILDLIFE OFFICER

We are currently seeking to recruit competent, committed, self-motivated, and mature candidates for the position of Wildlife Officer. The position is based in Lagos.

JOB OBJECTIVE:

To be responsible for the effective coordination of tourists, nature interpretation, and biodiversity conservation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with diverse stakeholders.
  • Assists local communities in undertaking conservation activities.
  • Implementing strategic plan.
  • Participate in nature interpretation and biodiversity surveys.
  • Coordinate sustainable tourism that ensure positive conservation impact.
  • Develop and implement participatory tools for mobilizing and organizing tourist and communities to effectively support sustainable conservation activities.
  • Implement community awareness and exchange programs.
  • Establish cordial working relationship with all stakeholders.
  • Work with tourists and communities to provide access to information, resources and opportunities to empower them to manage resources effectively.
  • Conduct environmental education activities and assists with community awareness programs.

EXPERTISE & SKILLS:

  • Adaptable, flexible, self-motivated, and able to prioritize competing demands.
  • Good team player with strong interpersonal skills, outgoing, ability to work independently and effectively on strict deadlines in a multicultural environment.
  • Good computer literacy.
  • Good oral and written communication in English and other Nigerian languages.
  • Good knowledge of nature interpretation, ecological survey, environmental education, woodwork, horticulture, ornithology, botany, zoology, and wildlife photography.

QUALIFICATION:

A university degree or its equivalent in rural sociology, community development, wildlife management, tourism, and environment, or other directly related fields.

EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of 2 years of working experience in ecotourism, wildlife conservation, and community relations.

REMUNERATION, TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

Negotiable
