Walk for Nature – October 17, 2026

The 19th edition of Walk for Nature, Nigeria’s flagship environmental advocacy campaign, was held on 1 November 2025 at Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), Lagos, under the theme “Lagos, Let’s Beat Plastic Pollution!” Organized by the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF) in partnership with the Lagos State Ministry of Environment and Water Resources and supported by corporate partners, the event brought together over 1,500 participants, including government officials, corporate leaders, students, environmental advocates, and members of the public. The annual campaign continued its long-standing mission of inspiring collective action, raising environmental awareness, and promoting sustainable practices to address pressing environmental challenges.

The 2025 edition focused on the urgent need to tackle plastic pollution, a growing threat to Lagos’ ecosystems, public health, and urban resilience. Deliberately hosted within a tertiary institution, the event placed young people at the centre of the conversation through awareness campaigns, educational activities, and a city-wide advocacy walk that carried the message of responsible waste management through the streets of Yaba. Participants also reinforced the importance of translating environmental policies into everyday actions by encouraging waste reduction, recycling, and responsible consumption. Beyond advocacy, the event delivered practical conservation impact through the donation of six waste bins to YABATECH, strengthening waste management infrastructure on campus and reinforcing environmental stewardship among students. Walk for Nature 2025 reaffirmed the power of collaboration between government, civil society, educational institutions, and the private sector, while inspiring citizens to embrace sustainable lifestyles and contribute to building a cleaner, healthier, and more resilient Lagos.
