Two students get S.L Edu research grant

The Nigerian Conservation Foundation with the support of Chevron Nigeria Limited has awarded two students the Chief S.L. Edu Memorial Research Grant. The awardees were presented to the audience at the 13th Chief S.L Edu Memorial Lecture in Lagos by the General Manager, Government Policy and Intergovernmental Affairs, Chevron Nigeria Limited, Deji Haastrup.

The two awardees are OMOREIGBE, Queen Osayemwenre and YISAU, Juliet Atinuke. While Osayemwenre, is undergoing her PhD research work in Population Survey of Forest Elephants (Loxodonta Africana cyclotis) in Southern Nigeria, at the University of Lagos, Yisau is working on Assessment of Some Silvicultural Techniques in Seed and Seedling of Synsepalum Dulcificum at Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Nigeria.

Since inception in 2006, a total of twenty (20) postgraduate students pursuing their PhD progrmmes in various Nigerian universities have benefited from the grant.

The grant is aimed at aiding doctoral students in Nigerian Universities for research work in nature conservation and livelihoods that are linked to sustainable renewable natural resources utilization.
