All arrangements have been put in place for the climate change rally in Lagos on September 22, 2014. The rally is in solidarity with the People's Climate March towards building global awareness and urgency around mitigating climate change.
Organized by the Climate Aid International (CAI), Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF) and other environmental/youth groups, the rally is taking place simultaneously in New York, Paris and Rio, London, Berlin on the same day.
The main objective of the march is to show the policy makers on the need to choose a side that favours sustainable development while demanding for decisive actions on climate change.
According to the organizers, this is a crucial moment, the time to build a new course economy through efforts to redefine economic progress. There is urgent need to address the greatest crisis in the history of mankind.
"There can be no climate justice without economic justice, but there won’t be any economic justice without facing up to our climate reality. Tackling the climate crisis is good for our communities, good for the economy and good for the planet. We need to come together to fight for our common future. No one is immune from the impact of climate change. But everyone can benefit from the solution".
The Lagos Climate rally will start by 10:00am from De Hall event place, by Alausa Shopping Mall, Awolowo road and ends at Nduibuisi Kanu Park, Opposite Lagos State Government House, Alausa, Lagos.
