The NCF Walk for Nature is an initiative aimed at raising awareness on a wide variety of contemporary environmental issues confronting everyday living in Nigeria by demonstrating the importance of nature conservation, sustainable use of natural resources and environmental education.
The Walk has taken place in Lagos State for 11 years in partnership with the Lagos State Government and supported by corporate organisations that share in the vision of a Nigeria where people prosper while living in harmony with Nature.
The 3km walk take participants through a designated route within the city. Participants donning sponsors’ branded t-shirts bearing the theme of the event (and customized messages of the sponsor) are able to interact with the members of the public through distribution of handbills and display of information placards, banners and other materials.
Relevant government agencies are present to provide support services – these include the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Lagos State Ambulance Service, and KAI Brigades. The Police, supported by the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps are equally on ground.
The Walk for Nature climaxes with a reception featuring speeches from stakeholders expounding the theme, with keynote addresses from the representatives of the Lagos state Governor, NCF, sponsors and community members.
