Membership & Fundraising Officer


The NCF is currently seeking a membership & Fundraising officer who will function in the Membership and Fundraising Department to achieve its mandate of registering 8,000 members per annum and retaining the database for the next 4years as well as achieve the Foundation’s fundraising objectives. The role will be based at the NCF headquarters in Lagos Nigeria

Tasks and Responsibilities:

·        To identify Membership prospects & register a required number of members monthly

·        Maintain and Update members profile in database

·        To produce membership identity cards on a regular basis.

·        To engage members via social media platforms

·        Provide the first point of contact for members by phone or email as well as welcoming new members, and thanking old ones for Renewing, reminding them to renew or inquiring why they lapsed

·        Undertake market research to make recommendations on membership recruitment initiatives such as partnerships events and press advertising  

·        Coordinate and plan NCF events, and  Network at events, programs and other informal settings to initiate membership registration

·        Assist the communications team with the production and management of inhouse marketing materials including proof reading and liaising with designers, printers etc.

·        Contribute to long term departmental plans

·        Assist in the development and implementation of a coordinated fundraising program.

·        Planning for and managing of fundraising events and other events on the NCF annual calendar

·        Handling donor acknowledgements and thank you letters.

·        Identify donor prospects and research donor focus areas.

·        Solicitations of corporate sponsors, financial gifts, and gift-in-kind donations.

·        Assist in interacting with donors and conducting donor meetings.

·        Assist in development of donor materials such as donation letters, proposals, presentations, and emails.

·        Serves as an ambassador for the organization and promotes a positive image/ reputation of the Foundation.

·        Provide other support to the Head of Department as may be required.


Key Organizational Relationships

·        Reports to Head, Membership and Fundraising

·        Regular status meeting with Membership & Fundraising Team mates

·        Regular engagement with other departments




Job Requirements

Skills and Attributes:

·        Enthusiasm for communicating the Foundations areas of focus and information on environmental happenings in Nigeria & around the world to members /prospects

·        Strong written and verbal communication

·        High level of initiative and motivation

·        Creative, independent and hard-working

·        Good representational and public-speaking skills

·        Ability to work flexibly, occasionally weekends

·        Excellent relationship management and Business development experience, and familiarity with managing a wide platform of membership category or associations

·        Experience in communication and membership recruitment  

·        Experienced partnership broker and/or negotiation skills with the private sector, organized groups and associations



·        Qualification – degree in Social sciences or Arts/ or its equivalent

·        Professional qualification will be an added advantage

Other Requirements

·        Business English, written and verbal is essential

·        Willingness and ability to travel nationally and on occasion, globally
